Stephen Li is an aspiring politician from Beijing, China. His passion for international affairs, politics, and history led him to join Model United Nations in seventh grade as an extracurricular activity. When asked about his favorite part of the experience, he said, “Although Model UN summits are just simulations of the real things, I like hearing different perspectives from different people from different countries. Model UN also gives me the opportunity to learn more about countries I would never have even known existed. For example, one time, I chose to represent Somalia. At first I barely knew anything about it, but after a few hours’ worth of research, I was able to step into the role of a Somali diplomat. When asked about how he plans to develop his Model UN skills at Webb, he said, “Well, this year, as a new student, I kind of just want to adapt to high school, but next year, I definitely plan to join the Model UN club here at Webb.”
